Problem: KingB Foods is a regional leader in Convenience Store channel beef jerky. They identified a growing niche market for jerky products in the outdoor and recreation markets. Their research also found that while outdoor enthusiasts enjoyed beef jerky as a satisfying snack and source of protein, the high sodium content and heavy flavors made most jerky inappropriate for use during outdoor activities. KingB then developed a product with a 40% lower sodium content than the USDA standard allowance for beef jerky.
